John has deep talents for analyzing business processes, identifying data and important relationships within that data, and implementing automated solutions. John spearheaded the migration from an outdated, error-prone customer database to a dynamic customer relationship management (CRM) system, working with staff to understand the core issues throughout the selection and implementation. He personally mapped and migrated the data from several disparate sources into the relational database. This allowed the organization to better track customers and make significant progress in reducing erroneous customer data throughout the agency. John attacks problems, living and breathing them until solutions are found. He can research, recommend, and implement. I recommend John for any business analysis and implementation needs.

On-Base Document Management

When I started, the current document management application was about to be replaced with On-Base.  The CIO was not happy with the current vendor and saw trouble ahead.  She asked me to look into it and I discovered that once the conversion to On-Base was complete a sizable number of the client's documents would be unviewable until senior managers had one by one unlocked them.

In addition, the ability to find a document did not support the client's needs.

I found a new implementation vendor and worked out an implementation strategy that avoided the issue with unviewable documents.  Also, I worked with Hyland, On-Base's creator, to add functionality to On-Base so the client could do the searches needed.

Improved SDLC Processes

The client's in-house development team did not have broad experience.  I worked with the Director of Application Development to develop processes to follow to implement the full SDLC.  I also worked with the development team as they learned the new processes.

Managed The Replacement of SCAG's Outdated CRM Application

The client's CRM application was a custom app for which it was difficult to find support.

I did a gap analysis against Dynamics CRM and found a vendor who could customize CRM for the client.

I then worked with the vendor to do those customizations.

The data migration from the custom app to Dynamics CRM was very complex, so I did it myself.

Assisted In Finding A New ERP Application

Client used SAP for their ERP.  This is was much more functionality than they needed and cost more than they needed to spend.

I researched the requirements the client actually needed of their ERP and researched the original reasons SAP was selected to ensure nothing was missed.

I then led the RFP to find a consultant expert in government agency ERP's who eventually put in Great Plains.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS

The Southern California Association Of Governments is the regional planning agency (transportation, housing, air quality) responsible for most of southern California.  I assisted their CIO on a variety of projects.
