Convert Windows VB6 Healthcare Software Packages To VB.Net Web
Virtual Consulting had written VB6 software packages for a healthcare software vendor. These were very popular, being used in over 600 hospitals and medical centers. Eventually, they needed to be upgraded to VB.Net. The client at the same time also decided to move the packages to the web.
The users of the existing apps were mostly heads down data entry staff who wanted to the same functionality in the web products.
The project involved documenting all existing functionality and working with the client on additional functionality desired. Then that functionality had to be programmed in a VB.Net web site.
At the time, most web sites were click and wait web sites with a couple of fields on a page. The pages we created had up to 60 entry fields on a page and the users often did not look up until they had entered them all.
Business Intelligence Dashboards For Fairplex, the non-profit behind the L.A. County Fair
In addition to holding the Los Angeles County Fair, Fairplex has over 15 different business activities, including a Sheraton Hotel, horse racing, vocational training, large scale catering and equipment rental.
Worked with the CFO and Assistant CFO to detemine the Chart of Accounts to use and then researched 6 different databases for four of their companies to find the data to pull for the dashboard. That combined information allows management to research revenue and expenditures spanning the organization.
Before the dashboard could be implemented, I had to persuade a COTS vendor to make a change to one of their packages and then educate the Fairplex uses to make use of that change.

Virtual Consulting became QlikView's top partner in the West US. I worked on business intelligence projects for a wide variety of clients in a wide variety of industries.
